The City of Fairfield is seeking to fill an Engineer position within Traffic Engineering of the Public Works Department. We're looking for someone who is an independent thinker, understands various facets of traffic/transportation engineering, and has knowledge in Synchro/Sim-Traffic or other models. The ideal candidate will focus their efforts working on traffic signal operations such as traffic signal timing, adaptive control systems, communications networks, etc., but welcomes the opportunity to continue to expand their knowledge in all areas of traffic/transportation.

THE SELECTION PROCESS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Placement and salary will be based upon candidate qualifications and complexity of duties performed. Both classifications require a valid California driver's license, current registration as a Civil Engineer in the State of California and a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering.
ASSISTANT CIVIL ENGINEER - $7,530 - $9,153 monthly
One (1) year of professional civil engineering experience in the City of Fairfield, or two (2) years of professional civil engineering experience, including experience in the design of public works transportation facilities or development review plan checking as applicable, is required.
ASSOCIATE CIVIL ENGINEER - $7,911 - $9,616 monthly
Two (2) years of professional civil engineering experience equivalent to an Assistant Civil Engineer with the City of Fairfield or three (3) years of professional civil engineering experience are required. Experience in the public sector, project management, contract administration, consultant selection, regulatory permitting, designing, constructing and / or maintaining municipal infrastructure is highly desirable.
