This position is expected to begin in January 2021.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Building analytic and design skills
- Conducting engineering design under the supervision of an experienced Engineer
- Creating designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced Engineer
- Collecting and analyzing data under the supervision of an experienced Engineer
- Using computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems
- Performing work in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule under supervision
- The successful candidate must be prepared to work in the vigorous environment of Transportation construction
- Excellent documentation and communication skills are a must for this position as the successful candidate will also be responsible for communicating directly with Contractors, Engineers, and clients
- Coordinating construction schedules to ensure items of work are constructed according to contract documents
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering
- Must have a Valid Driver's License
- US citizen required
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-5 years of construction engineering experience with WisDOT or municipalities
- The ability to work in potentially remote and physically demanding field conditions of a construction site
- GPS and Survey equipment knowledge
- Familiarity with Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and MS Office
- Familiarity with the municipal, county, and non-WisDOT construction projects
- Familiarity with WisDOT Standard Specifications and material certification requirements
- WisDOT material certifications including AGGTECH, PCCTECH, Nuclear Density
