Job Description

This position is expected to begin in January 2021.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

    • Building analytic and design skills
    • Conducting engineering design under the supervision of an experienced Engineer
    • Creating designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced Engineer
    • Collecting and analyzing data under the supervision of an experienced Engineer
    • Using computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems
    • Performing work in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule under supervision
    • The successful candidate must be prepared to work in the vigorous environment of Transportation construction
    • Excellent documentation and communication skills are a must for this position as the successful candidate will also be responsible for communicating directly with Contractors, Engineers, and clients
    • Coordinating construction schedules to ensure items of work are constructed according to contract documents

Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering
    • Must have a Valid Driver's License
    • US citizen required

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of construction engineering experience with WisDOT or municipalities
  • The ability to work in potentially remote and physically demanding field conditions of a construction site
  • GPS and Survey equipment knowledge
  • Familiarity with Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and MS Office
  • Familiarity with the municipal, county, and non-WisDOT construction projects
  • Familiarity with WisDOT Standard Specifications and material certification requirements
  • WisDOT material certifications including AGGTECH, PCCTECH, Nuclear Density
