What you will do

Gannet Fleming is looking for a Transportation Noise Engineer/Analyst to contribute to a wide range of projects involving a variety of environmental licensing, permitting and compliance to join our Noise, Vibration and Air Quality Group in the Mid-Atlantic region (Raleigh, NC; Columbia, SC; Baltimore, MD; Fairfax, VA; Camp Hill, PA; Valley Forge, PA).

The successful candidate will assist with highway and rail transportation noise, environmental noise and industrial noise projects. The successful candidate will participate in sound level measurement programs, data collection, data analysis and report preparation. In addition, he/she will be involved in conducting research in a wide range of environmental noise subjects including sound and noise source measurements, general and specialized modeling, soundscape, and transportation noise visualizations.

Job Duties

  • Performing preliminary and final design traffic noise analysis
  • Responsible for completing development tasks as assigned by the project lead
  • Working as part of a team to develop quality and robust solutions
  • Perform a variety of data analysis/processing functions, including analytical data quality reviews, data extraction/loading/transformation, and data organization and cleanup.
  • Assists design team in creating plans from concept through final construction drawings
  • Conduct noise measurement field work as part of the team
  • Develops project and presentation graphics

Education | Experience:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum BS or BA degrees in Engineering, Computer Science or related fields
  • 7-10 years of Highway traffic noise analysis experience
  • NCDOT traffic noise analysis experience required
  • Knowledgeable in traffic noise analysis, as it pertains to roadway planning projects
  • Understanding of DOT and other DOT guidelines / procedures / policies
  • Proficient using Microstation, AutoCAD or GIS
  • TNM2.5 Training Certification
  • National Highway Institute Noise Training Course Certification
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • A passion for working with teammates and customers to solve problems
  • Experience managing tasks with an interest in leading projects, expanding current lines of work, and potentially exploring new areas of opportunities, will also be considered
  • Adept at interacting with clients, participating in business development activities, and writing proposals
  • Dynamic, personable and self-motivated personality with the ability to work as part of a distributed team as well as independently on assigned tasks

Desired Experience

  • Demonstrated experience leading a highway noise project from beginning to end
  • Worked and completed noise analysis projects for various DOTs/SHAs
  • Prequalification for NCDOT Traffic Noise Reports and Design Noise Reports
  • Experience using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software such as ArcGIS and ArcPro to prepare noise analysis
  • Experience using SoundPlan
