Job Description

The Mechanical Department of an integrated Architectural, Planning, Interior Design and Engineering firm in Southern California offers long-term career opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer with 5+ years of experience in design of HVAC systems for corporate, pharmaceutical, healthcare, and academic facilities.  He or she should be capable of independently performing various phases of commercial building HVAC design including: conceptual development, engineering calculations, documentation, specifications, and construction observations.  They will prepare drawings detailing the designed system (using Revit and/or AutoCAD) and prepare system design calculations (load calculations, Title 24). The successful candidate will work in tandem with Departmental leadership on multiple projects in all phases of the design from conceptual planning to construction administration and project close-out.

This candidate must be capable of initiating the design effort from programming and concept design through construction administration.

Job Duties:

  • Work with firm Principals, specialized planners, engineering and architectural discipline leaders to generate HVAC designs incorporating creative solutions and current best practices in the industry.
  • Assist in developing the design requirements based on the client’s objectives.
  • Provide code analysis and review of industry standards when evaluating design options.

  • Generate construction documents, including drawings and specifications. 


Job Requirements:

  • Education: Professional Degree.
  • Professional Status: Licensed Professional in California or have a path towards licensure in California, if licensed in another state.
  • Professional Certifications:  Achievement of BSME, EIT, PE and/or LEED AP are desirable.
  • Communications Skills: Excellent presentation, verbal, written and graphic communication skills.  Ability to react quickly to issues while fostering a collaborative environment is a must. 
  • Experience:  Candidate must have at least 5 years of industry experience with the skills and talents necessary for the proper execution of mechanical design documents.  Experience with OSHPD is desirable.
  • Technological Skills: AutoCad and Revit experience, Microsoft Office Suite
