Wages range from $76,856.00 – $148,886.40 per year plus an additional $1,000.00 per month for the Tahoe Premium Assignment. All current Engineer vacancies are scheduled to receive a general wage increase of 4.0% in July 2024.

Senior Civil Engineer
This is an exciting leadership position that includes supervision of an engineering team. The position will have direct involvement with multiple County departments and divisions, as well as interfacing with developers, applicants, private engineers, and numerous agencies. The ideal candidate should possess a strong desire and technical engineering skill set to lead other County staff towards the delivery of successful projects along with a high comfort level and aptitude with oral and written communications to foster positive relationships internal and external to the County for the greater good of the communities we serve.
Vacancies are in the following areas: Tahoe: Department of Public Works – Engineering Division. Auburn: Department of Public Works – Engineering Division, Transportation Planning Division, Floodplain and Stormwater Division, and Environmental Utilities Division. Community Development Resource Agency – Building Services.
Minimum qualifications include five years of increasingly responsible experience in engineering, including two years of supervisory responsibility; Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field; possession of a Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer in an appropriate discipline as issued by the State of California.
Associate Civil Engineer
Vacancies are in the following areas: Tahoe: Department of Public Works – Engineering Division. Community Development Resource Agency – Engineering & Surveying Division. Auburn: Department of Public Works – Engineering Division, Transportation Planning Division, Floodplain and Stormwater Division, Environmental Utilities Division, and the Western Placer Waste Management Authority. Community Development Resource Agency – Building Services.
Minimum qualification include two years of responsible professional engineering experience performing duties similar to an Assistant Engineer with Placer County; equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field.
Assistant Engineer
Vacancies are in the following areas: Tahoe: Department of Public Works – Engineering Division. Community Development Resource Agency - Engineering & Surveying Division. Auburn: Department of Public Works – Engineering Division, Transportation Planning Division, Floodplain and Stormwater Division, and Environmental Utilities Division. Community Development Resource Agency – Engineering & Surveying Division.
Minimum qualifications include two years of responsible professional engineering experience performing duties similar to a Junior Engineer with Placer County; equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field; possession of an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate. Note: Relevant, equivalent experience (performing the same or similar job requiring similar knowledge, skills, and abilities) may be substituted for the required education as determined by the Human Resources Department. Applicants receiving their degree outside the United States must submit proof of accreditation by a recognized evaluation agency.
Junior Engineer
