Senior Engineer / Sacramento

As a Senior Engineer in our Sacramento office you will lead a variety of water, wastewater, and environmental initiatives for municipalities, special districts, utilities, and private companies, primarily in northern California. You’ll start by tackling projects we have in hand, working with our existing resources to see them through to completion. You’ll work with our team to help build relationships, and develop new business. As we grow, you’ll help to build and lead a team of professionals who plan, conceive, design, permit, and manage construction for a wide range of infrastructure projects related to our natural and built environments. Your specific responsibilities in this position will include the following:

  • Serve as technical lead through lifecycle of projects, including development of engineering plans, specifications, permit applications, etc.
  • Prepare, evaluate and approve engineering drawings, details, construction specifications, and contract documents; oversee bid phases; and oversee contractor procurement.
  • Work independently, and direct junior staff (including sub- consultants) on various design, permitting, and construction management tasks.
  • Coordinate with clients and regulatory agencies to fulfill various permit requirements.
  • Perform occasional field work and construction observation.
  • Develop and manage project scopes, schedules and budgets. Communicate effectively with client, project team, and subs to make changes when appropriate.
  • Support business development by working with Division Manager to meet with clients, identify and evaluate opportunities, and prepare proposals. Build into effective business development program.
  • Participate in development and implementation of business plans to maximize profitability, and help achieve overall corporate
  • Strengthen existing client relationships with technical and business solutions that integrate innovative approaches, value, and risk
  • Develop collaborative and productive relationships inspiring those around
  • Provide technical guidance and quality control, ensure sound engineering practices, ensure proper allocation of manpower and timely performance on
  • Grow office talent base to strengthen our presence, service offerings, and productivity with
  • Report to, and work seamlessly with the Division Manager in all of the above.

At a minimum, you will need the following Qualifications:

  • S. in Civil Engineering (or related field),
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration in California (or have the ability to obtain such a license within three months), and
  • 6-12 years of civil engineering
