Job Description

What We're Looking For Provides coordination of project execution and control, in a given discipline area, to achieve continuity of purpose within scope, budget, and time schedules from initial start-up through project closeout. Also accountable for handling specific design aspects on projects appropriate to discipline field. Coordinates efforts of assigned design team to ensure completeness and accuracy of design effort. Serves as technical liaison with client on project efforts. Responsible for gross revenue of <$1M.

Primary Focus Will Include

  • Serve as the Roadway/Drainage Design task leader on IDOT/County/City of Chicago projects which include: interstate routes and interchanges, arterial routes, local road and streets.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and other discipline task leads to deliver projects.
  • Attend client meetings and public meetings.
  • Mentor and delegate work to junior staff.
  • Prepare design submittals including plans, calculations, quantities, and cost estimates.
  • Prepare detailed scope of work and level of effort estimates
  • Assists in Project Management duties

Preferred Qualifications And Skills

  • Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Experienced in using MicroStation, GeoPak, and/or Open Roads Designer.
  • Ability to develop and check horizontal and vertical alignments, corridor modeling, and cross sections.
  • Strong time management, team collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Past experience on IDOT projects is preferred but not required.

Preferred Drainage Experience

  • Understanding of Storm drain, inlet spacing/encroachment and ditch design computations for transportation projects.
  • Past experience with roadway detention design
  • Familiarity with the Rational Method and NRCS TR-55 hydrologic computation methods.
  • H&HA/HEC-RAS - River/channel modeling, Scour analysis, FEMA regulations and data collection.
  • Past experience working with Geopak Drainage.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 6 years relevant experience
